Pipe Carrier Spiritual Leader

Our first Chief in more than 300 years asked Looking Fox if he would carry the pipe for the Tribe.  It is a tedious undertaking as he is responsible for the wellbeing of all the tribal family.  It is a 24 - 7 job. He is the Spiritual Leader of the tribe and watches over and prays for the needs, illnesses and joys.  He attends meetings, events and works closely with our Chief.  It is customary in our tribe that the Chief  has a protector with him at all events, meetings,and gatherings.  John is that protector and goes with him.  He is responsible for opening meetings with a prayer, provides smudging (cleansing of negativity at meetings and events and provides the pipe for those who need it as well at the ceremonies he does.   Tribes believe this is the most important and hardest job in any tribal community.
